Country singer-songwriter Becca Bowen is showcasing her gospel roots in the new Christmas track “This Christmas.” Co-written by Becca, Sal Oliveri, who also served as producer, as well Amber Obrien and Todd Twining, Becca describes the songwriting process as a profound “God moment,” with the lyrics coming together seamlessly in hopes of uplifting those experiencing adversity. “This Christmas” is strung together by an optimistic melody that brings peace and strength inspired by a poem that Amber wrote for the back of her family’s Christmas card. When Becca was asked to be a part of the song, she was inspired by devastation caused by Hurricane Helene along the East Coast and was hoping to bring a source of light and inspiration to those affected. Discussing the idea for the song, Becca said, “‘This Christmas’ was written with a heavy heart but is a song of hope. So much has been going on in the world these past few months. The devastation in Western North Carolina and East Tennessee had just happened from Hurricane Helene and my heart felt broken for everyone going through the pain and devastation from this historic Hurricane.”
With a heavy heart and a strong foundation in church, Becca turned to two things that have carried her through life since she was a child: her faith and her music.
“I grew up in church and have always had a background of faith that keeps me grounded. I wanted to share with the world a message of hope that no matter the pain we may feel at that moment, someone greater is watching over us.”
“This Christmas” revives the true meaning of the holiday, offering hope and reminding listeners of the true meaning of the holiday. From start to finish, Becca pours her heart into each lyric of the song expressing raw emotions and a deep sense of faith.
Earlier this year, Becca released fan-favorite tracks “Tangled In Your Love” and “Heartbreaking Business,” both of which showcase her bold storytelling and signature style. “Heartbreaking Business” follows the viral success of her County Line EP, featuring hits like “If I’m Being Honest” and “Son of a Gun,” a song that made waves when Becca revealed its real-life inspiration—a former boyfriend showing up to her show with another woman. This genuine storytelling, paired with Becca’s effervescent personality and multifaceted talent, has resonated deeply with audiences.
