All proceeds from the annual fundraiser will benefit essential, accessible veterinary services
Are you an animal lover who needs a week at the beach, an evening of live music or several bottles of rare bourbon? All of these and more are available at this year's Art for Animals Saturday, Sept. 25 at The Westin Nashville when Pet Community Center (PCC) of Nashville celebrates its 10th anniversary by hosting its annual fundraiser, sponsored by Mars Petcare. The non-profit will celebrate its 10th anniversary during the event, which will include live and silent auctions, seated dinner, a special presentation, and more. All proceeds from Art for Animals will benefit Pet Community Center’s life-saving spay/neuter, preventive veterinary care, and outreach programs.
Pet Community Center (PCC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the human-animal bond through accessible veterinary care and support services. PCC operates a high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter and vaccine clinic in East Nashville. Serving thousands of animals annually, PCC focuses on the health and well-being of animals in Nashville. Additionally, Pet Community Center is tackling barriers to veterinary care and provides additional support to pet owners in zip codes with the highest rates of pet homelessness. The results of PCC’s work include lower pet homelessness rates, lower shelter intake and euthanasia rates, and increased access to veterinary care for pets in poverty.
Art for Animals will begin at 6:30PM with a cocktail hour and preview of featured auction items. Suzanne Alexander of American Country Countdown with Kix Brooks will return to emcee the event for a third time. During the evening, Pet Community Center will present co-founder and former President & CEO, Natalie Corwin, with the Jourdan Parenteau Excellence in Service Award.
With a goal to reduce Nashville’s animal euthanasia rate and inspired by her adopted chow-mix, Sophie, Natalie co-founded Pet Community Center in 2011. In 2016, the Nashville Business Journal named Natalie one of Nashville's 40 under 40, and in 2012 she received the Humane Hero award from Nashville Paw Magazine. In 2021, Natalie stepped down from her role as CEO of PCC to pursue a career as an artist. Natalie and her husband, Paul, share a home with their two dogs and six cats.
Some auction items to look out for at Art for Animals include a seven-night stay in a beachfront home on Oak Island, NC; a 36”x36” mosaic on canvas by photographer Penny Adams; two tickets to see one of Reba and Brooks & Dunn’s last shows in Las Vegas; two tickets to a Jason Aldeen concert; a stay at downtown’s new Virgin Hotels Nashville; bottles of rare allocated bourbon from Henry McKenna, Willett Family Estate, and E.H. Taylor; bottles of premium Cosa Salvaje Tequila; a 28”x28” oil on canvas by local artist Ginny Elder; and a weeklong stay in Whitefish, Mont.
Tickets for Art for Animals are $125 per individual ticket and $1,000 for a table for eight. Pet Community Center will require attendees to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test within 48 hours of Art for Animals to enter the event.
