Aspasia's Top Six

Most under-rated thing about Nashville? I think people really underestimate the indie rock scene in Nashville. Most people see Nashville as being all about country music, but there are so many awesome rock venues and artists here.

How would you say your hometown of Hinsdale, IL differs from Nashville? Hinsdale was a smaller town and it was definitely a lot slower than Nashville. Also a lot colder in the winter!

Say you had a completely free day in Nashville—no work allowed. What would you be doing? I would take a morning hike at Radnor Lake or Percy Warner Park and then go to the Music City Thrift store to do some thrift shopping. For dinner, I would head to East Nashville to try a new restaurant I haven’t tried, before catching a show at one of the local rock venues there.

What are some of your favorite Nashville restaurants? Of course I love some good ol’ Hattie B’s fried chicken. I also love this Thai place called Thai Kitchen. They have the best red curry.

Is there a place you haven't ate you have been dying to go? There always seems to be a big line outside of Biscuit Love. I’ve never been, but I’d love to see if it’s worth the hype!

If someone is coming to Nashville for the first time, where do you take them? As touristy as it is, I take them right to 12 South, because it’s one of my favorite little areas.

One Thing About Nashville

What excites you most about the Nashville music scene right now? What’s most exciting is the community you can build with like-minded artists and songwriters. Everyone in the scene really wants to make connections and help each other, and it’s been so awesome getting to know similar artists in the indie rock crowd.

Five Favorites

What’s your favorite place to go for ice cream in Nashville? I love this custard place called Andy’s Frozen Custard. It’s a bit of a drive, but so worth it.

What’s your favorite place for breakfast in Nashville? Frothy Monkey is always great.

Favorite place to go on date night? Zanies Comedy Club is always fun and different than just getting dinner or seeing a movie!

What grocery stores do you shop? Trader Joe’s!

Best place to grab a beer? Diskin Cider, hands down.
