The 6 1 5 Featuring Shane Michael Taylor

Shane Michael Taylor is a remarkable man who has overcome obstacles and transcended physical limitations to become a respected author, songwriter and motivational speaker. Shane navigates the world in a wheelchair battling daily with communication hurdles as a result of being born with a severe form of cerebral palsy, a developmental disorder affecting movement, speech and posture. Making excuses, however, was never an option for this Waterbury, CT native, who taught himself to type with his nose at the age of five. Fueled by his lifelong love of country music and an unrelenting desire to shatter stereotypes, Shane earned a college degree in Music Business and began making frequent visits to Nashville to co-write with prominent Music City songwriters like Lorna Flowers and Mason Douglas. With his most recent release I'm Giving In, Shane earned a spot on the Academy of Country Music’s New Music Friday Playlist placing him “shoulder to shoulder” with hit makers such as Thomas Rhett, Brian Kelley, Ashley McBryde, Chris Janson, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Dan + Shay, Keith Urban, Tracy Lawrence, Tyler Hubbard, Miranda Lambert, Ronnie Milsap and Ashley Monroe. Shane is living out his life purpose by using his creativity and enthusiasm to inspire and entertain people through music, books and lectures to live life to their fullest potential.

Shane Michael Taylor Top Six

What makes Nashville special to you? The fact that there a lot of creative and ambitious people that have a common goal of succeeding. Most under-rated thing about Nashville? That you could go to any club and listen to a song writer play a big song they wrote and then get in your car hear the same song playing on the radio. That’s kind of cool to see the progression of the song within hours, sometimes. Say you had a completely free day in Nashville—no work allowed. What would you be doing? For me, going to Percy Priest Lake or just taking a walk on the pedestrian bridge especially when concerts are going on. What are some of your favorite Nashville restaurants? Mellow Mushroom, Firebirds, Martin’s BBQ Joint & The Loveless Cafe Is there a place you haven't eaten you have been dying to go? The Bluebird Café. I’ve never been because I’m never up in time to get tickets. Of course, we love your style, any favorite Nashville shops? I like the Boot Place on Broadway. I like to take visitors there because you buy one and get two free. If someone is coming to Nashville for the first time, where do you take them? I would take them to the Opryland Resort. It’s so beautiful and amazing in there. You forget you are indoors.

One Thing About Nashville

What one thing that excites you most about the Nashville music scene right now? Most people in the music scene are a community and you kind of get a team spirit. Consequently, that makes you think about life a little differently.

Five Favorites
